About MAGNET Project
Maharashtra Agribusiness Network (MAGNET), a project of Government of Maharashtra assisted by Asian Development Bank (ADB), intends to increase income of small and marginal farmers in the State. The project focuses on promotion of integrated value chain development of targeted horticultural crops namely Banana, Pomegranate, Orange, Sweet Orange, Custard Apple, Guava, Sapota, Strawberry, Okra, Chilly (Green & Red), Flowers, Mango, Lemon, Cashew Nut, Snake Gourd.
Objectives of MAGNET Project
- To increase incomes of small and marginal holding farmers in Maharashtra.
- To reduce post-harvest losses and extension of the horticulture crops shelf-life.
- Demand-linked value addition and efficiency of food distribution.
- To increase participation of Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs) in horticultural value chains.
The project aims to achieve the above objectives through three main core outputs:
Output 1 : Strengthening the access to institutional, technical, and marketing capacities of agribusiness institutions and farmer producer organizations.
Output 2 : Strengthening access to finance of farmer producer organizations and value chain operators.
Output 3 : Improving and operationalising agriculture value chain infrastructure.
